From the Olive and George collection, drawing inspiration from the Norfolk Fishermen’s Gansey jumpers of the 19th and early 20th centuries, Cooper is a unisex, one size only fisherman’s beanie hat.

Its namesake was Cutty Cooper, a Sheringham fisherman, working the waters around 1900. His Gansey jumper was rich with fishing iconography which have been translated into the beanie hat, they include: two bands of “ridge and furrow” stitch followed “hailstone” stitch which have then been shaped (fully fashioned) to fit this snug beanie hat.

Description

This beanie hat has been knitted in certified 100% British semi-worsted wool, spun in Yorkshire for decades and knitted in Nottinghamshire. From fleece to finished knit in under 125 miles.

The Sky Blue Shetland version is knitted from 100% authentic Shetland wool and knitted in Nottinghamshire.

The yarn is plied up to create a luxurious, tactile knit which makes the various stitches stand out and look three dimensional. The rib at the hat opening folds back on itself and the overall fit is snug to keep you warm during stormy weather.
