*Available to pre-order now. Delivery due mid-October.

Part of the “Make Do and Mend” Autumn ’24 collection, which is inspired by the Norfolk Fishermen’s Gansey jumpers and the resourcefulness of their knitters who unravelled and mended the jumpers when they became worn, knitting the mended areas in whatever wool they had to hand, often in a slightly different colour. Bigby is a chunky crew neck knitted gilet with roomy proportions, an original “hailstone” stitch on the top half of the body and contrasting pockets, button placket and neck trim.

Knitted from really soft 100% British wool and knitted in Nottinghamshire (Great Britain).

Gilbert Bigby “Leather” Rook was a Sheringham fisherman who was known as “Old Leather” due to his toughness.

“From fleece to finished knit in less than 125 miles.”

Description

This generous, boxy fitting gilet comes in three sizes: XS/S fits women’s size 8-10, S/M fits women’s size 10-12  and M/L fits women’s size 14/16. The roomy proportions and straight hem, mean you might like to size down for a neater fit. The perfect layering piece when there’s a chill in the air. Trimmed with a contrast chunky ribbed placket and neck trim. The buttons are made from recycled paper on both colourways.

Hannah wears size XS/S, and is a size 8 (UK) and  5″6  tall.

M/L length from high point shoulder to hem at side seam 64cm. Width across chest 63cm. Across shoulders 54.5cm.

*there may be a slight variation in measurements of 1cm either way depending on colour. This is standard tolerance for knitwear.
