The Charl was originally conceived a unisex collection to be shared. Oversized sweaters can be worn as jumper dresses with a pair of woolly tights and chunky boots by a girl or with skinny jeans by a boy. I've always loved the iconic images of Kate Moss and Kurt Cobain taken in the early '90s where genders were blurred and the rules rewritten...

Today has been spent getting weekend orders ready to post which reminded me to tell you about our packaging - it's ALL recyclable and recycled! 🌍

I'm very proud to say that the signature CHARL pink ribbon is made from recycled plastic bottles, the swing tags from cotton card made from off-cuts of T shirt material, the tissue paper is unbleached and recycled and the whole package is wrapped up in potato sacks! 🏷

Although our packaging comes from humble origins, it looks pretty special and is always a lovely surprise when it's delivered to your door! 📮

🍁 With the seasons changing, October has been a busy month for Charl. We are very excited to be featured in both @redmagazine and @countrylivinguk magazine's November Issues.

🍂We had planned to do a lot of pop-up events this autumn as this is our debut Autumn season, but due to the current climate many of these have gone "on-line".

🌍 This has actually proven to be a really interesting and fun change of plan as it has meant that the events will be able to each a much wider audience - geographically and also to invite speakers and experts from around the world to host talks and discussions on their platforms.

🎃 We do still have a few "real life" events planned nearer to home in Warwickshire which I am keeping my fingers crossed will be able to take place, but please do check in with me on Social Media for up-dates as things may change quickly.

🧡 From a personal perspective, when I was selecting the yarns for the collection, I wanted to ensure each one had a unique property that enriched the range. I chose @Britishwool because I loved the gentle melange colours, the thickness of the wool - which is not too fine, but thick enough to create some really three dimensional stitches and because British wool is unique to the UK; it has a rich cultural heritage from the past thousand years, and doesn't need to be shipped half way around the world to get here!

The Cazey funnel neck in Toffee Apple (pictired above). It's the natural, undyed shade of fleeces from alpacas who live in the highlands of the Peruvian Andes.

Baby alpaca is yarn made from the first shearing of the adult alpaca, it's the softest yarn they will ever produce 🍂.
